Mosque - What is a Mosque and Role of Mosques in Islam

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

A mosque can be understood as a place of worship for Muslims. The real term for mosque is “Masjid“. However, the term mosque started in the west and people in the west have since refered to Masjid as a Mosque. The term Masjid refers to a place where one performs Sajda to Allah - or a place of worshipping Allah. Muslims still prefer to call a Mosque with its real term - called Masjid. It is even preferable to use the term Masjid simply because it is used in the Quran.

Islamic Clothing - Abaya, Hijab and Jilbab

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Islamic Clothing is worn by a majority of Muslim women in Islamic countries. This type of clothing is worn by default in many Muslim countries. However, in the west, Islamic Clothing has become a de facto standard work or keyword to refer to clothing worn specifically by Muslim women. Such clothing usually refers to
Abaya, Hijab, and other forms of modest clothing. Islamic Clothing for women is more common than for men.One can Buy Islamic Clothing at many retail outlets including many Islamic websites. Hijab blogs have also started to popup too.
